Derrynane beach is 1.5km of glorious shoreline. The sheltered harbour of Derrynane was once the haunt of pirates and buccaneers from Daniel O’ Connell’s time. The area still offers great adventures with the opportunity to enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery and activities imaginable. From walking and hiking treks to horse riding on Derrynane Beach, archaeology sites galore to fairy trails, there is an abundance of thrills for everyone.
From a rib trip around the bay to a deep sea fishing trip; water-skiing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, swimming or just snorkelling in the harbour enjoying the underwater wildlife and mammals that Derrynane has to offer. Derrynane House & National Park covers an area of 320 acres and includes a Nature Trail with fairy houses, over 1.5km of shoreline and a glorious blue flag beach to enjoy a walk or a swim. A visit to Derrynane House, home to Ireland’s Liberator, Daniel O’Connell, is a must while here. For those of you interested in geology and ecology, Derrynane National park is one of the few places in Ireland the “Kerry Lily” grows and the sand dunes here offer their own geological system. With the strong influence of the Gulf Stream, flora and fauna thrive, nature trails abound and it is a haven for those who enjoy bird watching
